Updates and Reminders for Cheerleading and Football

7th and 8th grade girls interested in cheerleading: Our new cheerleading coach, Mrs. Wehr is excited to announce a preliminary practice schedule and tryout information. She will hold preliminary practice for all girls intending to try out for cheerleading in the Dance Room of the VPAC building from 3:30-5:30 on the following dates:

Monday, August 2nd

Wednesday, August 4th

Monday, August 9th

Wednesday, August 11th

Friday, August 13th (tumbling practice)

Cheerleading tryouts will be held from 4:00pm-5:00pm on Monday, August 16th, Wednesday, August 18th, and Friday, August 20th. Ladies, you must have a physical on file before you can practice or tryout. Forms can be downloaded from the school website under the athletics tab and can be brought to the first practice, if you do not already have a physical on file.

The attire for tryouts is as follows:

- T-shirts, athletic shorts, socks, and athletic shoes

- No cheerleading (LOGO) shorts; t-shirts, etc. will be worn during the tryout process

-T-shirts must be tucked into shorts and hair must be worn up and out of face

- No jewelry, gum, or candy

AJMS Football Players: Coach Wright would like to remind you there will be a parent meeting and helmet fitting on August 2nd @ 6:30 pm. You will receive information about tryouts, a practice schedule, and expectations for our student-athletes at this meeting. Please be on time because we will begin promptly at 6:30. If you are interested in trying out for winter sports, then please make sure to get your physical and all necessary paperwork completed and turned into the AJMS front office by OCT 30. Tryout dates are to be determined. You will not be able to try out unless you have all paperwork completed and turned in. The physical packet can be found BY CLICKING HERE or you can pick up a hard copy from the front office. All A and B day students interested in trying out need to sign the interest sheet while at school on your designated school day. Virtual students need to call the school so that they can be added to the interest list of wrestling, boys basketball, or girls basketball. Please call if you have any questions.

Winter Sports Information:

If you are planning on trying out for Girls or Boys Basketball, then you MUST have all paperwork turned in to school before Monday, November 2nd. All paperwork is on the school website or can be picked up at the front office. Tryouts will begin Monday, November 2nd at the Middle School Gym. Girls will begin at 4pm and Boys will begin at 5:30pm.

Wrestling practice will begin on Monday, November 9th from 4:15pm to 6pm. Please meet in the Middle School Cafeteria on the first day of practice.

Please bring water. Drop off and pick up will be in the High School parking lot. Enter the Middle School Gym through the side entrance. Your coach will be at that entrance to check temperatures.

Fan Attendance, Parking, and Ticket Policy for 2020 Sports Seasons

As we begin Middle School fall sports, we wanted to provide information regarding fan attendance policy, ticket sales, and parking instructions. There will not be any tickets for sale at the gate during a game. All tickets will be pre sold to athletes only. Each athlete will receive a predetermined number of tickets. The only people that will have access to tickets are immediate family members. Coach Robinson will contact volleyball parents, Coach Mager will contact football parents, and Coach Joyner will contact cheer parents for home and away events. We will use a combination of GoFan and physical tickets depending on where the event is held. Coaches will be in contact with parents about these procedures. Do NOT show up to an event unless you have prepaid for a ticket.

Fans must present tickets and have temperatures checked prior to parking in the high school student parking lot. Once you are through that checkpoint, then you may enter the event and present your prepaid ticket to the ticket taker.

Fans will be required to wear face masks and social distance. You will be given more information once you have entered the event regarding seating. It is important that we follow these South Carolina High School League and Lancaster County School District guidelines so that our student athletes have the opportunity to complete their seasons. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

When physical forms are returned to the school, please attach the parent permission form, concussion form, emergency information form and a copy of the student's birth certificate. We are NO LONGER able to receive copies from the guidance department. All forms MUST be turned in at the same time, signed and dated by both the athlete and parent/guardian.
