TRiO Upward Bound Program at the University of South Carolina Lancaster

The TRiO Upward Bound Program at the University of South Carolina Lancaster is currently recruiting rising 9th and 10th graders to participate in this year’s Virtual Summer Experience beginning June 28 and ending August 6 focusing on math, composition and literature, a lab science, a foreign language, and team building through social emotional development. The Summer Experience will be held on Zoom Monday thru Thursday of each week from 9 a.m. to noon with each Friday set aside for in-person experiential activities related to the academic areas of study, a college visit, team building and/or community service.

Upward Bound is a free program for first generation and low-income high school students grant funded by the federal government to support 9th thru 12th graders from Andrew Jackson, Buford and Lancaster High Schools who do not have a parent or guardian who has completed their four-year college degree; or their family is identified as low income based on federal standards. The program is designed to support students through high school by providing them with the tools needed to graduate high school and to be the first in their families to earn a college degree.

If your family has a student who would benefit from being a part of the Upward Bound program please use the link below to enroll your student or contact our office directly by calling 803-313-7188 or by e-mailing me (Eddie Boykin) at

AJ Emergency Text Group

The safety department is signing parents up for the Remind app to be used to distribute emergency information about the Andrew Jackson area schools. This will allow us another emergency communication tool if we have a need to evacuate our buildings, have a natural disaster, or have a criminal act on or around school grounds that threatens the welfare of students and staff. The distribution of information to parents is vital in an emergency. Please use the link below to opt in to the text list. This is voluntary. Your numbers are not shared with us as a safety precaution for your privacy. -Bryan Vaughn, Safety Director, LCSD
