Message from Interim Superintendent, Dr. Norris Williams
Lancaster County School District is aware that inclement weather is expected over the weekend. Due to anticipated hazardous conditions caused by snow and ice, ALL afterschool athletics, activities, and school related programs will be canceled beginning at the end of the school day on Friday, January 23, 2026 through Sunday, January 25, 2026.
We are closely monitoring the weather event and our team has been communicating regularly with Duke Energy, South Carolina Department of Transportation, and SC Emergency Management Systems. We will provide an update on delays or closures on Sunday, January 25, 2026.

A special thanks to Mrs. Courtney and Mr. Cauthen for all their hard work in organizing the event, and to all the businesses and individuals who donated to support our Veterans luncheon.
This whole-school program incorporates the Arts to help students express learning and understanding. In Social Studies and Science classes, students explored Veterans Day through South Carolina standards.
8th Grade Social Studies (Ms. Neal): Students wrote historically accurate letters based on a video prompt about life on the front lines.
Other Social Studies Classes: Mrs. Mize’s students created timeline projects, Mr. Steele’s 6th graders wrote about what freedom means to them, and Mr. Hanna’s 7th graders wrote letters to Veterans.
Science Classes: Ms. Dabney’s 6th graders connected their heat transfer unit to technologies that keep troops cool and allow planes to fly supersonic. Ms. Hilton’s 8th graders learned about SONAR technology used by Navy submarines (SONAR stands for SOund Navigation And Ranging).
The student-led program featured Julieanne Pittman as Master of Ceremonies, who did an amazing job! We also had readers from Science and English classes, plus 24 student leaders nominated by their grade-level teachers.
