Just a reminder that cookies are sold during lunches for $1.00 and Kona Ice will be here on Wednesdays. Prices for the shaved ice range from $4-$7 and cash or card is accepted.
Students will be bringing home a Panorama survey opt-out form on Tuesday.. The survey will be administered on March 3rd. If a parent would like to opt their child out of participating in the survey, the lower portion of the form must be returned to Mrs. Hammond by Wednesday, February 26th. A digital copy of the form has also been posted to the school website.
Yearbooks are now available for purchase. 8th grade families, you may also now purchase a yearbook ad to recognize your student. A yearbook ad is a great way to celebrate all of your student's hard work and graduation of 8th grade. The deadline to purchase a yearbook or yearbook ad is March 25th. As athletics for AJMS come to a close we would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the families and supporters of AJMS Athletics for your incredible dedication, encouragement, and support throughout this year. Your involvement has played a key role in creating a positive and motivating environment for our athletes. We look forward to recognizing those athletes participating in spring sports at the high school. We are already looking forward to next school year, and have some great things in the works.

Basketball enters the final week of the regular season.
On Monday, Basketball hosts North Central.
On Tuesday, Basketball hosts South. This is the rescheduled game from January 23rd.
Finally, on Thursday, Basketball hosts York Prep in their final game of the season and will also recognize our 8th grade athletes from basketball and cheer. Recognition will take place between the boys and girls games.
All games will be played in the AJ Visual and Performing Arts Center (VPAC) with a start time of 5:30, and tickets can be pre-purchased on GoFan
The New York trip has been cancelled for this year and Son Tours will send contact to the families for information regarding that cancellation.
We will host Mr. Chad Bowers for a four-day artist-in-residency during this upcoming week. Mr. Bowers is a comics writer and creator from Balentine, SC, known for his work on X-men ‘92. He will be in Mrs. Griffin's and Mrs. Griffin's ELA classes and having several Meet and Greet sessions with Ms. Perkins. Welcome Mr. Bowers!
We want to emphasize the importance of keeping your child home from school, if they are experiencing symptoms of illness. Schools are seeing an increase in cases of flu and stomach viruses. If you are unsure if you should send your child to school, please contact the school nurse for guidance. If your child becomes ill during the school day, we will contact you to pick them up. Schools must have current, up-to-date contact information on file for your student.

Everyone loves our Celebrity Dancers for the 2025 Dancing with the Stars show. But our Celebrity Judges are just as good! You will not want to miss hearing what LCSD Superintendent, Dr. Fitzpatrick, Jose Luis and Melissa McCrary.

On Tuesday, the Lancaster Career Center is hosting an open house for current 8th and 9th graders from 5:30 - 7 p.m. This is a great opportunity for students to learn about career and technical education programs in our district. The American Revolution Experience Exhibit and the Lancaster County Museum has rescheduled January 21st event. Due to travel and weather considerations, Rick Wise's discussion on the Francis Marion Papers has been rescheduled to Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at 6:30 PM. The exhibit will be on display at the Lancaster County Historic Robert Mills Courthouse, located at 102 Main Street, Lancaster, SC.


Friday, January 24, 2025 will be on a regular school schedule. ALL Lancaster County schools, buildings, and facilities will be open. Please use caution.

Thursday, January 23, 2025 will be an eLearning day. ALL Lancaster County schools, buildings, and facilities will be closed. After evaluating road conditions the southern and eastern sides of Lancaster County still contain a lot of ice and slush. Due to the freezing temperatures tonight roads will freeze and conditions will worsen. We will continue to reevaluate the roadways tomorrow and provide further updates. As a safety precaution, ALL Lancaster County schools, buildings, and facilities will be closed on Thursday, January 23, 2025.
